Hey queerieees! 🌈 We can't wait for Filmistin Zurich: No Pride in Genocide.
This Pride Month, we honour the fullness of Arab queer life. We are told, over and over again, that queerness and Arabness cannot exist together, that we are either victims of our culture or saved by the West.
The films we are screening are made by and for those who know otherwise: Palestinian artists and allies. They hold stories of queer Arabs navigating displacement and belonging, of mothers loving their trans children, of friendship, memory, longing, resistance, and care. They are stories of lives that are complex, contradictory, joyful, difficult, and deeply human.
The film programme by @filmistin includes:

As Pride unfolds amid the ongoing genocide in Gaza, we reject pinkwashing and the weaponisation of queer rights to obscure colonial violence. Queer Palestinians are not symbols to be invoked in service of occupation.

You can bring instruments if you want. We'll do songs out of the songbook to begin with, but afterwards it'll become an open session (where anyone can choose what songs we do).
